FRAGSTATS computes 4 levels of metrics corresponding to: (1) each cell in the mosaic (or a subset of focal cells, as specified by the user); (2) each patch in the mosaic; (3) each patch type (class) in the mosaic (or within fixed-radius windows defined by the user); and (4) the landscape mosaic as a whole (or within fixed-radius windows defined by the user). These metrics are described in detail in the FRAGSTATS Metrics section. In addition, FRAGSTATS computes the adjacency matrix (i.e., tally of the number of cell adjacencies between each pairwise combination of patch types, including like-adjacencies between cells of the same class), which is used in the computation of several class- and landscape-level aggregation metrics.
